Kit Stop: Shopping with a twist

Updated: Jan 6, 2022

Introducing you to a new sports shopping experience

Kit Stop is not your regular run of the mill everyday high street sports shop where you pick up a pair of striking new Nike runners and complimentary hoodie, nor can you treat yourself to this seasons edition Manchester United jersey or that Mayo polo to look dapper on the annual pilgrimage to Croke Park. There are fine establishments for those items with their wide range of apparel.

What sets Kit Stop apart

What sets us apart is our range of products are for the discerning and active sports person, and where clubs come to kit out for the rigours of a new season, so we consider ourselves to be somewhat more specialised.

Many a high street sports retailer will happily supply you with a pair of perfectly serviceable goalkeeper gloves for a nights activity on the vets masters team on a wet Wednesday evening under the floodlights, but you won't get a pair of negative cut gloves in 4mm German contact latex, with multi wrap palm system and silicon injection punch zone to pick the ball from the back of your net a dozen times.

On the other hand we at Kit Stop can't dress you in the fineries needed to kill it on a Saturday evening at the local "place to be" unless of course your idea of killing it is a reversible training bib in shocking pink and neoprene padded hip base-layer....Now there we can oblige.

I guess you see the pattern emerging here, we are not competing with the high street sports retailer for your custom but more so catering for the special needs that are serviced generally by very niche suppliers often based in the UK and beyond.

When we opened our shop recently it was long overdue following the unfortunate periods that Covid and lockdowns bought to all retailers. While we offered our extensive range on line, nothing beats coming into the physical store and seeing and feeling the goods on offer. The quality and diverse range of football jerseys and training wear, the feel of that Molten UEFA Europa League FIFA Pro match football, the handling and bounce that make up an All Star Gaelic football or the weight and flight of a set of Harrows 90% Tungsten darts.

Add to this items such as a Wilson Evolution Basketball game ball, a GAA tactics board and coaches training session folder, an Erima or Givova Referees jersey or sporting goods for hand ball, dodge ball, volley ball, net ball and every other manner of ball..... Table Tennis, combat sports, cycling, swimming, hurling and even cricket.

This is where we excel in getting you the items for your particular chosen sport that traditionally are difficult to come by.

We are based on Tucker Street in Castlebar and our store has off street free parking at the rear, so feel free to drop in to us and discuss your particular needs. We also stock and supply teamwear from leading brands tailored to your needs with in house printing and embroidery so if your soccer club or school, Gaelic side, your Basketball team or Tennis association are looking for a great deal then drop in to us and lets plan to put you out on the field in style.

What's New In 22

From January 2022 we are excited to announce the imminent arrival in store of the new Joma range. The Spanish teamwear suppliers are one of the fastest growing brands on the market, with a growing number of professional and international sides sporting their stylish kits including Irish Premier league sides here in the West, Sligo Rovers and Finn Harps.

We at Kit Stop are the official Joma partners, servicing the mid west region.

Look out for more Blog posts from Kit Stop. Now we are happily acquainted and formally introduced we would like to expand on this blog over time and cover some seriously interesting and diverse topics over the coming months. The future of League of Ireland soccer, Sam Maguire 2022, The next block-buster bout featuring the Gypsy King himself.

We will have regular product reviews and comparisons alongside FAQ's unravelling the mysteries of what differentiates a budget range IMS (International Matchball Standard) football from a machine stitched Polyurethane FIFA Pro standard ball and how to choose the right product for you. There's lots to add to this Blog over time and we may perhaps even touch on the state of play in Irish cricket...yes really ! and some of those topical issues that catch the attention and imagination of sports enthusiasts from time to time as they hit the headlines. It all makes hopefully for interesting reading and an opportunity for you our readers to weigh in with your own two penneth of opinion.

The gloves are off.
